What a storm claim makes you ask.

From someone who spent 15 years on the insurance side.

  1. Who decides what’s covered?

Your insurance company, under your policy. Not us, and not any contractor. We’ll explain how the process generally works so you know what to ask your agent.

  2. What do you actually do?

We inspect and photograph the whole roof, not just the worst spot. We prepare an accurate scope written to manufacturer requirements and code. If you want us to, we take over all communication with your insurance carrier, and we’re at the adjuster meeting to walk the roof and show what we documented. Then we build it and document every layer.

  3. Are you a public adjuster?

No. We don’t negotiate your claim or tell you what your policy covers. When we talk with your carrier, it’s about the documentation and the scope.

  4. What if the carrier’s scope leaves something out?

If a component the roof needs to meet manufacturer requirements or code is missing, we’ll point it out and explain why. We won’t reuse a component or install a lesser roof just because it was left off a scope.

  5. Will you be there when the adjuster comes out?

Yes. We’re at the adjuster meeting to walk the roof with the adjuster and show the damage we documented. Our part is the documentation and the scope.

  6. What will I pay on an insurance job?

On an approved claim, our price matches the approved scope, so you pay your deductible and nothing more for the covered work. We don’t promise that a claim will be approved.

We had a wonderful experience with UnderCover Roofing!! They were very knowledgeable and helpful with the insurance process (Christian worked in insurance previously). They were also very honest about some items that were not quoted correctly in the original contract and adjusted the additional cost in a way that was very fair/appropriate. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing to replace their roof!
